Anderson Strathern Asset Management (ASAM) announced the hire of Jamie Daniels as senior investment director, marking the firm’s first senior appointment under managing director Arlene Ewing’s expansion plan across Scotland.
Daniels arrives with two decades of experience managing investment portfolios for private clients, trusts and charities, positioning him to enhance ASAM’s discretionary investment services for a diverse client base.
Before joining, he led investment management at Blackadders Wealth Management, where he shaped the firm’s investment proposition and collaborated closely with its associated law practice.
A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), Daniels holds a recognized professional credential in the securities sector.
Based in Edinburgh, he will serve clients throughout Scotland, working alongside ASAM’s financial planning team to deliver tailored investment solutions.
ASAM, part of the broader Anderson Strathern group, offers both financial planning and discretionary investment management, leveraging the law firm’s legal expertise to provide integrated advice for wealth-management needs.
“It’s an exciting time at ASAM as we focus on growing the business,” Arlene Ewing said. “We have a strong team of investment managers, and we want to build on that expertise while working more closely with our colleagues across Anderson Strathern.”
The appointment comes as consolidation continues in the wealth-management sector, prompting independent firms to emphasize personalized service. By pairing investment acumen with legal support, ASAM can differentiate itself from larger, less client-focused entities. Such a model may appeal to high-net-worth individuals seeking coordinated advice.
Daniels emphasized client-centricity, noting, “Taking the time to get to know clients, understand their aims and explain the investment strategy clearly is a vital part of what we do.” He highlighted his experience working in both strong and challenging markets, which has given him a deep understanding of the investment environment.
Beyond his ASAM role, Daniels serves as a judge and mentor for Future Asset, an initiative that encourages young women to explore careers in financial services.
