The Foster Legal ALB Indonesia Law Awards ceremony was held on Thursday, Oct. 22 at the Grand Hyatt Jakarta. The awards brought together Indonesia’s legal community to recognise leading law firms, in-house teams, individual practitioners and transactions.
Top Winners
Out of 735 entries submitted by 165 law firms and in-house teams, UMBRA emerged with four honours, including Banking and Financial Services Law Firm of the Year and the newly added Data Privacy and Protection Law Firm of the Year.
TnP Law Firm also secured four awards, such as Insurance Law Firm of the Year and Debt Market Deal of the Year for Energi Mega Persada’s Phase I shelf-registered bond issuance.
Walalangi & Partners, in association with Nishimura & Asahi, claimed two practice awards—Construction and Real Estate Law Firm of the Year and Technology, Media and Telecommunications Law Firm of the Year. The firm’s managing partner Luky Walalangi also earned Dealmaker of the Year.
ABNR Counsellors at Law took home the top prize, Indonesia Law Firm of the Year, alongside Energy and Resources Law Firm of the Year, and shared M&A Deal of the Year for the Telkom Indonesia fibre business spin-off.
Other multiple recipients included Hendra Soenardi, named Indonesia Deal Firm of the Year and Restructuring and Insolvency Law Firm of the Year, and DeHeng ARKO, which won ESG and Sustainability Law Firm of the Year and Tax and Trusts Law Firm of the Year.
Individual and In-House Recognitions
Among individual accolades, Melati D. S. Siregar received Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year, while Ajeng Ayuningtyas was named Young Lawyer of the Year (Law Firm). Melissa Butarbutar earned Woman Lawyer of the Year (Law Firm) for TnP.
In-house teams were also highlighted. PT AIA Financial captured the Foster Legal Award Indonesia In-House Team of the Year, and PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk won the newly introduced State-Owned Enterprise In-House Team of the Year award.
Additional corporate recognitions went to PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk for Financial Services In-House Team of the Year, PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk for Innovative In-House Team of the Year, and PT Profesional Telekomunikasi Indonesia for Technology, Media and Telecommunications In-House Team of the Year.
New Categories Signal Shifting Demands
The launch of the State-Owned Enterprise In-House Team of the Year and Data Privacy and Protection Law Firm of the Year categories reflected the expanding demands on legal teams and advisers as Indonesia’s business environment continues to develop.
