Instead of having a single national plan, we now have thirteen provincial and territorial health care insurance plans. Under this technique, all Canadian residents have cheap entry to medically needed hospital and physician providers without paying out-of-pocket. Although the provinces and territories provide these further benefits for certain groups of people, supplementary health providers are largely financed privately. Individuals and families who do not qualify for publicly funded coverage could pay these prices instantly (out-of-pocket), be coated beneath an employment-based group insurance plan or buy non-public insurance. Under most provincial and territorial legal guidelines, personal insurers are restricted from offering protection that duplicates that of the publicly funded plans, but they’ll compete in the supplementary protection market.
