Malaysian artist Anne Samat (b. 1973) creates brilliantly colorful totemic wall sculptures using humble everyday materials. Her work is deeply informed by Malaysian tradition, but with a up to date sensibility for colour, texture, and type. Our signature biannual award, the Roy R. Neuberger Prize, recognizes the work of exceptional modern artists, continuing our founding patron’s dedication to supporting artists early in their careers. The Neuberger Museum of Art’s NEU Kids program fills an academic hole by providing field trips to the museum for near 2,000 native youngsters annually. This consists of waived admissions, round-trip college bus transportation, lunch, and guided excursions with gifted docents who convey the galleries to life!
